The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now closed its doors officially on April 1, 2010, having succumbed to a long onslaught of right-wing attacks that culminated with a video of conservative provocateur James O’Keefe impersonating a pimp seeking advice from ACORN workers on how to skirt the law. The subsequent torrent of negative media coverage led to a vote in Congress to cut its federal funding and caused private supporters to back away.

ACORN encourages people to register AGAIN woman confesses

A woman confesses to being told to register AGAIN AND AGAIN by ACORN whenever she comes near them. ACORN pays its employees only if they register X number of people each. This encourages them to make up names and use names of dead people and football teams in order to meet their goal of registering 20 or more people to vote during their time spent looking for people to register.

As of today, ACORN no longer exists; the community organization claimed bankruptcy and will have to shut down. David Swanson says the group was attacked by laughable and fraduelent videos that a pimp asked ACORN to receive advice on how to operate his affairs.

Expedition 20

Three new crew members arrived at the International Space Station at 5:34 am PDT Friday. After launching from Kazakhstan on Wednesday, flight engineers Roman Romanenko, Robert Thirsk and Frank De Winne spent two days in space aboard the Soyuz TMA-15 spacecraft before docking to the Earth-facing port of the Zarya module. Awaiting the newest arrivals were the Expedition 19 crew members Commander Gennady Padalka and flight engineers Koichi Wakata and Mike Barratt.

NYT corrects ACORN story, but damage is done

Now that the community organizing group ACORN has declared that it is disbanding, many observers say the media should bear the blame for publicizing the phony tapes that started the group’s downfall. Blogger Brad Friedman says that while the New York TImes has admitted some errors in its reporting, that doesn’t go far enough.
